The line chart illustrates how much carbon dioxide (CO2) was produced by a person in 4 different countries: United Kingdom (UK), Portugal, Sweden and Italy from 1967 to 2007.
Overall, it is noticeable that the average CO2 emissions per person in Italy and Portugal increased significantly, while it referring to UK and Sweden were in the opposite side. Furthermore, although the amount of CO2 each citizens in uk released declined slightly for 40 years, in 2007, it still ranked first compared to other countries.
As can be seen obviously, uk was the country which had the highest quantity of CO2 emissions per person in 40 years, at about 11 metric tonnes (mt) in the initial year despite decreasing to nearly 9 mt in the last year. Similarly, average individual CO2 production in Sweden went down rapidly to reach the bottom at under 6 mt after rising constantly to 2 more mt for the period from 1967 to 1977.
Conversely, Italy and Portugal's amount of CO2 released by a person went up in the same manner even though it of the previous country was nearly 3 mt higher than the second one, at over 4 mt in comparison to nearly 1 mt in the first year. This two countries rose up slightly for the first 30 years before having a standability until 2007, at about 8 mt and 5.5 mt respectively.
