The diagram below shows the floor plan of a public library 20 years ago and how it looks now. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The diagram illustrates the layout of a public library at present and its appearance in the past.
It is clear that all facilities of the old library were changed and more technological equipment was installed.
Looking at the central library layout 20 years ago, we can see that there are four sections in each corner and a range of tables and chairs in the middle. The other spaces are dedicated to adult non-fiction books in the right side and adult fiction books in the opposite. The entrance located in the south of the library.
Today, after developing the library has been changed their function of all areas inside. Computer room replaced the position of reading room. The section for CDs, video games was enlarged and became the place for storytelling events with sofas and children’s fiction books. If the whole area was used to manage tickets, book returns, now that was automated by using self-service machines and just small area for information desk. Finally, lecture room that can be seen now, used to be a place stored children’s books and all tables and chairs were moved to make easier to travel.
