The diagram below shows how the Australian Bureau of Meteorology collects up-to-the-minute information on the weather in order to produce reliable forecasts.
The diagram illustrates the way the Australian Bureau of Meteorology gathers data every minute to generate authentic weather predictions.
Overall, the process consists of four main stages, beginning with the incoming information and ending up with the broadcast.
First of all, incoming information is collected from three distinct sources, Satellite, Radar and Drifting Buoy. The satellite transmits facts in two directions, one in generating satellite photos, which is a step for analysis and forecasting, and the other is to the Radar. After that, information from Satellite and Radar combines to create a radar screen. Next, Drifting Buoy, with the help of the other two sources, produces a synoptic chart, another crucial part of Analysis and Forecasting.
In the next stage, all the details proceed to a centralised computer system in order to prepare the broadcast. The computer system interprets and is ready to produce the results. Finally, the system presents the outcomes in three mediums, they are TV newsreader, radio and recorded announcement.
