The diagram below shows how the Australian Bureau of Meteorology collects up-to-the-minute information on the weather in order to produce reliable forecasts.

The figure illustrates the process used by the Australian Bureau of Meteorology to forecast the weather.
It is clear that there are four stages in the process, beginning with the collection of information about weather. The weather information will then be analyzed, prepared for presentation, and broadcast to the public.
Looking at the first and second stages of the process, there are three different ways of collecting information and three ways of analyzing it. First, incoming information can be collected by satellite and analyzed to present on satellite photo. The similar data can be received by a radar station and shown on radar screen or synoptic chart. Furthermore, incoming information can be passed a radar and directly shown on radar screen or synoptic chart. A drifting buoy also can receive weather information and show on synoptic chart.
At the third stage of the process, all these data will be prepared by a computer. Finally, the resulting weather information will be delivered to the public through a television, a radio, or as a recorded telephone announcement.
