The image represents the process of generating electricity by water in a hydroelectric power station.
Overall, three main facilities are needed to produce electricity by taking advantage of the change of flows day and night, namely a dam, a sloping water tube and a power station.
In the first part, water from a river is restored in a high-level reservoir which is connected to the tube via an intake gate. The gate is open during the day and closed at night.
The water tube connects the up reservoir and the power station, linking to the low-level reservoir. The flow of water goes down through it, turns the reversible turbines and activates the generator in the daytime, generating electricity. At night, however, the turbines will pump the water up, using the same tube, to the high-level reservoir from the low-level one.
In the power station, the electricity that is produced by the generator is transferred to the national grid through power lines eventually.
