The diagram below shows the life cycle of a salmon, from egg to adult fish.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The presented diagram describes the life cycle of a salmon fish, from incubation to its adulthood. This life cycle is mainly divided into two stages (river and ocean).
The overall life cycle of a salmon fish is further divided into eight smaller stages. A new life cycle of a salmon begins when an egg is being laid by the other matured salmon fish.
Whilst in the river stage, the eggs are laid by the other matured fishes, in the spawning areas, which begin the incubation stage. The eggs are then hatched as the new stage of emergence starts, subsequently, these newly emerged salmons then swim in the river water, this stage is called fresh water rearing. Before moving towards the ocean, salmons swim and nurture themselves in the estuary water this stage is called estuary rearing.
The ocean stage begins with the ending of estuary rearing. Firstly salmons try to migrate to rearing areas for their further growth and matureness. Upon reaching the rearing areas in the ocean, salmons stay there as long as they are not fully grown and become adults. Following this, the next stage is to migrate towards spawning areas, in order to do this they revert themselves back to rivers for laying the eggs. Thus, starting over the whole process again for their offspring.
