The diagram below shows the water cycle which is the continuous movement of water on above and below the surface of the Earth

The diagram gives us an overview of the process cycle of water, which is a continued movement from the different surfaces of Earth.

Few of the important components of this water cycle are sun, ocean and ground, also there are majorly three steps involved like Surface runoff, evaporation and finally precipitation.

To start off, snow from mountain top gets melted which causes the water to flow by surface runoff, this water flow is further increased by the groundwater. This water flows through the impervious layer of the Earth's crust and then the process of salt water intrusion takes place. Further more this water then, flows into the ocean where the next step of this cycle occurs.

In the daytime due to the hot and scorching sun above the ocean body the process of evaporation takes place. After evaporation the water gets converted to water vapour. In fact our oceans contribute to around 80 percent of the total water vapour in the air. This water vapour formed is further forms the clouds using a process called condensation. Then these clouds due to wind travels to various nearby places and many a times they rain on the surface of earth, into lakes or forests. The process through which clouds rain is called precipitation. This water which falls back to earth surface again contributes to the water cycle as ground water. In this way the water cycle continues again and again.
