The diagram below shows the water cycle which is the continuous movement of water on above and below the surface of the Earth

The diagram gives us an overview of the process cycle of water, which is a continued movement from the different surfaces of the earth.

A few essential water cycle components are the sun, ocean and ground. Also, there are three steps involved: surface runoff, evaporation and precipitation.

To start, snow from the mountaintop gets melted, which causes the water to flow by surface runoff. Next, the groundwater further increases this water flow. Next, this water flows through the impervious layer of the earth's crust, and saltwater intrusion occurs. Furthermore, this water then flows into the ocean, where the next step of this cycle occurs.

In the daytime, due to the scorching sun above the ocean body, evaporation occurs. After evaporation, the water gets converted to water vapour. Our oceans contribute around 80 per cent of the total water vapour in the air. This water vapour further forms clouds using a process called condensation. Then these clouds, due to wind, travel to various nearby places and often rain on the earth's surface, into lakes or forests. The process through which clouds rain is called precipitation. This water which falls back to the earth's surface again, contributes to the water cycle as groundwater. In this way, the water cycle continues again and again.
