The diagram provides information about the life cycle of salmon fish.

The first stage is when adult salmon moves to the upper river where there is low flow to lay eggs. Then, eggs are laid under the reeds and between small stones. In this part of river, fry live for about 5-6 months until they reach 3-8cm in length. In the next step of their life, salmon fry swim to fast flowing lower part of the river where they spend for about four years and become smolt in length of 12-15 cm. Following that, smolt leave the lower river, moving to the open sea. they spend the longest part of their life in the open sea, living for approximately 5 years there. While inhabiting there, they grow up to 70-76 cm and become adult salmon. Finally, for the aim of continuing their life cycle, adult salmon go back to the upper river to put up eggs.
