The diagrams below show the lifecycle of the silkworm and the process for producing silk cloth.
The first diagram illustrates the five stages, which a silkworm goes through during its lifespan. Additionally, the second diagram shows how silk cloth is produced.
Overall, the life-cycle of a silkworm consists of five different stages. However, these stages take a various amount of time for transition. Looking at the other diagram, we can see that the production of silk cloth is also a five-step process.
Starting with the silkworm's cycle of life, we can observe that it starts with a moth laying eggs on specific kind of leaves called Mulberry. After 8 to 10 days these eggs will hatch, and silkworms are going to eat leaves for 30 to 40 days. Then, the larva is going to start spinning the thread. Consequently, the cocoon is going to be finished after 4 to 7 days. Finally, moths are going to come out of these cocoons starting to breed, and the cycle repeats.
The process of silk cloth production starts with selecting cocoons and then boil them. Next, these cocoons are unwinded to the length of 250 to 900 meters. Then, these unwinded cocoons are going to be intertwined to each other and form threads and weaves. Lastly, we are going to dye them into different colors.
