In the past until 1960 it was the era of classical music it was far more popular and its sales were more than both rock and pop music combined, the total market sales were approximately six billions half for classical and quarter for each pop and rock, while the sales of classical music continued to steadily fall in the following 30 years until it plummeted in the ninetys until it reached 50% of its former glory, on the other hand pop slightly increased in following two decades then had a huge spike in its sales to become the industry’s biggest seller wile rock music hit its peak a little earlier In the eighties at more than double its sells,
At the start of the 21centris the overall market value was 8billions, one eighth for classical half for pop and about 40% for rock in the next year the total market price increased by 2billions, one for each of pop and rock while classical remind still after it the market shares shrinked in size with pop being the highest at 3.5 and classical having a huge spike reaching close to the same amount of sales as rock music then falling the next year followed by regaining of stability by both rock and pop music.
At the start classical music were the top seller but by the end pop music got the lead on it
