The line graphs show the development in ownership of electrical appliances and amount of time which people spend on doing the housework in one nation from 1920 to 2019.
In general, the percentage of households with electrical appliances grew rapidly, while the number of hours of housework per week, per household experienced a moderate fall. In 1920, there were a few families using refrigerator, and 20 years later, there was an enormous growth of 50% in the percentage of households with refrigerators. Between 1940 and 1980, the figure continued to rise from 50% to 100%, and in 2019 all families use refrigerators. There was a gradual upward trend in the data of vacuum cleaner from 30% to 100% in the 80-year period from 1920 to 2000. 19 years later, the percentage of households that used vacuum cleaners stayed unchanged with 100%. Between 1920 and 1960, the information of washing machine witnessed a substantial increase from 40% to 70%. In the remaining period of time, there was a small fluctuation, but the figure still went up to over 70% in 2019. In 40 year- period between 1920 and 1960, the number of hours per week declined gradually from 50 hours to 20 hours. 59 years later, there was a slight fluctuation between 20 hours and 10 hours, and finally the data decreased to 10 hours in 2019.
