The pie charts give the information about how much the Americans spent on their livings in two different years, 1966 and 1996. They divided the expenditures into 7 categories. Overall, it can be seen that their expenses in food dropped, however, they spent more money on cars.

To begin with, people in the USA spent the highest amount of money on food in 1966, at 44%, while in 1996 that figure decreased to only about a quarter. 6% of the American expenses, which was accounted for books, also declined during the 30-year period, to only 1%.

On the other hand, the spending on cars saw a significant rise, from approximately one fourth in 1966 to slightly under a half in 1996, becoming the largest proportion of the expenditures. There was also a considerable increase in computers, which jumped from 1% in 1966 to one tenth in 1996. Similarly, the Americans used more money for restaurants, the figure from the 30-year earlier grew two times higher to 14% in 1996.
