The percentages of industry sectors’ contribution to the economy of Turkey in 2000 and 2016

The pie charts compare the proportion of money that eight sectors brought into Turkey’s economy in 2000 with that in 2016. Overall, it can be seen that there was a significant decrease in percentages in the agriculture sector, while construction saw a marked rise.
To begin with, agriculture accounted for the largest proportion of the economy in 2000, at 24%, before dropping by 10% in 2016 and being taken over by healthcare and education, which remain stable over the 16-year period at 17%. Government and Leisure and hospitality also earned less money in the latter year, about 3-4% dropped from the figure of 2000.
In contrast, construction gained the least amount of money in 2000, at only 3%, however, the percentage jumped to 10% in 2016. Similarly, a rise was seen in construction’s figure, from 8% to 12%. There were also small growths in the rest sectors, increasing approximately 3% across the period.
