The first chart below shows the percentages of school-aged girls and boy who were at secondary school in four regions of the world in 2000. The second chart shows the percentages of college-aged men and women in higher education in the same year

The two bar charts give information about the percentage of two different age-groups who went to secondary and higher education including college and universities in four areas: Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and East Asia in 2000.

It is clear from the charts, while the percentages of people in school-age went to secondary and higher school in Europe was highest, in contrast this figure for citizens in the Sub-Saharan Africa was lowest.

As can be seen from the charts, almost 100% of people in Europe went to secondary school, while only 60% of female and 53% of male in Latin America went to secondary school in 2000. Sub-Saharan Africa and East Asia which had rates of males who went to secondary more than females did,but the percentage of inhabitants who went to secondary was still low. Nearly 60% both female and male went to secondary school, compare with only 20% female and 30% male in Sub-Saharan Africa countries.

In the higher education, only Europe had a rate of females who went to school higher than the three remaining regions, which had around 70% female and 60% male who went to school, only under 10% of both sexes in Sub-Saharan Africa did this. The number of people in school-age who went to colleges and university in Latin America stood at 20% for male and 15% for female, double as much as that of East Asia citizen counterparts.
