Overall , in America the highest percentage of money spent on food and cars . Whereas , the lowest expenditure were books and computers .

To start with , in year 1966 44% amount of money spent on food . This percentage was reduced in 1996 by 30 . Further , the proportion of cars was 23 in 1966 , later it upsurged almost double . Furthermore , the cost of petrol , there was slight decline in 1996.

Moving further , the expenses of restaurants was 7 percentage in 1966 but in 1996 the cost increased sharply to 14 .
