Essay topics:

The graph and table below give information about water use worldwide and water consumption in two different countries.

The charts compare global use of water in three sectors from 1990 to 2000 and the amount of water used in Brazil and Congo in 2000.
Overall, water use worldwide saw a significant increase over the period of 20th century, including that the highest amount of water was used for agricultural sector. It can also be seen that Brazil consumed much more water per person than Democratic Republic of Congo.
In the line graph, the agricultural consumption steadily rose in the first fifty years, beginning with 500 km3 then had doubled by 1950. In 2000, this level grew considerably to around 3000 km3. The volume of water used for industrial and domestic purposes experiences a similar trend but just far below compared to agriculture. Their figures both had stood at around 150 km3 before going up to over 1000 km3 by industrial sector and 500 km3 in terms of domestic.
Regarding the table, in 2000, the populations of Brazil and Congo were 176 million and 5.2 million respectively. Due to the fact that Brazil was 26.5 times accounted for irrigated land than that of Congo, water consumption per person in Brazil was at 359m³ while Congo was at only 8m³.
