The given line graph depicts the amount of energy consumed in America since 1980 with projected used until 2030.
What stands out from the graph is that fossil fuels have surpassed alternative energies since 1980 and are predicted to increase in the last 10 years. Petrol and oil have been the dominant energy used by U.S people over the period shown.
Fossil fuels are the main energy in the USA, among which petrol and oil accounted for the highest amount at 35 quad in 1980, followed by natural gas at 20 quad and coal at 15 quad which was below a half comparing with petrol and oil. From 1980 to 2020, Americans preferred using petrol and oil the most and tend to put this energy in use more and more until 2030. After a slight fluctuation, coal overtook natural gas and is supposed to become the second main energy consumption in this country in the future.
Surprisingly, the three mentioned renewable energies started at the same point about 3.5 quad, while there was a small surge in the consumption of nuclear and solar/ wind powers with slightly higher projection in 2030, the amount of energy created from hydropower witnessed a period of oscillation over the period shown.
