The line graph represents the energy usage from various sources of energy in the USA from 1980 and expected trend till 2030.
As evident from the graph, petrol and oil were the major energy sources in the United States and continue to be so in the coming years.
It is lucid from the line graph that the consumption of petrol and oil started at 35 quadrillion units in 1980 and increased steadily to approximately 40 quadrillion units in 2015. This trend will continue to reach 45 quadrillion units by 2030. Furthermore, the usage of coal and natural gas initiated at 15 and 20 quadrillion units respectively. The consumption of natural gas reduced till 1990 and increased to little over 20 quadrillion units thereafter till 2015 and will remain stable until 2030. On the other hand, the coal usage rose sharply from the beginning and is expected to touch 30 quadrillion units by the year 2030.
The usage of nuclear power and renewable energy sources like hydropower, wind, and solar commenced at a little under 5 quadrillion units back in the year 1980. After 1990, the nuclear power rose slightly till 2005 while hydropower and solar/wind delined. It is noted that the trend for solar/wind and nuclear energy will rise slightly after 2030 whereas the hydropower will remain stable.
