By the half of the period, figures for Italy and Portugal had climbed steadily to roughly 3 metric tonnes and around 7, respectively. Meanwhile, the UK had lowered its emissions by about 1 metric tonne, and those of Sweden peaked at just over 10 before falling significantly to about 7.
In the second half of the period, UK CO2 emissions dipped gradually to just below 7 tonnes in 2007, while in Sweden they kept falling to slightly under 6. In contrast, Italian and Portuguese CO2 emissions continued growing and reached figures of nearly 8 tonnes and slightly under 6.
