Looking at the graph, the data indicate that in 1998, the production of General Motors was the highest, at 32 hours per vehicle. Followed by the length of time spent in Ford, at 28 hours. Besides, the production of Toyota equals that of Honda, at 22 hours, respectively.
The amount of time spent on production by General Motors suffered a significant decline, from 32 hours in 1998 to flattening out at 25 hours in 2004, and then hitting the lowest point at 22 hours in 2005. Ford car production reached a peak of 30 hours in 2001, and it plunged by 9 hours to reach a bottom of 21 hours in 2005. The figures for Toyota and Honda observed a quite similar trend, fluctuating throughout the period given and ending up at 20 hours per car in 2005. Over a period of 7 years, the rank of companies which consumed the most average time to produce cars in the US is similar to the one in 1998, with General Motors at 22 hours, Ford at 21 hours, and finally, Honda and Toyota at 20 hours.
