In general, there was a mix of changing patterns with respect to the figures for the consumption of fish and three types of meat in a European country between 1979 and 2004. Throughout the period, the number of the use of fish was constantly receiving the lowest figures. Noticeably, the statistics of chicken recorded the most significant growth among all categories.
At the beginning of the period, beef and lamb experienced the highest numbers with 220 and 150 grams, respectively. In the next three years, there was a moderate decline in the numbers of consumption of beef and lamb to 170 grams and 110 grams respectively. However, throughout the 16-year period, the amounts of beef and lamb consumed dropped to approximately 100 and 50 grams, respectively. Therefore, in 1979, beef was by far the most popular of these foods but in the last year, it was not what it used to be.
Turning to the figures for chicken and fish, they came in third and fourth place in 1979, with 140 grams and 60 grams respectively. During the 25-year period, there was a sharp increase in the consumption of chicken to nearly 250 grams in 2004. Meanwhile, throughout the same time, the statistics of fish experienced a period of mild fluctuations bouncing within the range from 60 grams to 40 grams each year till 2004.
