This graph illustrates the change in consumption of different types of meats in a European country during the period between 1979 and 2004.
In 1979, beef was the most popular of all types of meats, at a rate of around 220 grams/ person/ week. Both chicken and lamb were consumed at a nearly similar rate of about 150 grams/ person/ week.
During the following years between 1979 and 2004, beef and lamb consumption has fallen dramatically and reached around 100 and 55 grams respectively. Fish consumption also decreased but to a lesser extent and reached somewhat below 50 grams in 2004.
On the other hand, chicken consumption has risen significantly during the mentioned period of time to reach nearly 250 grams in 2004 which is even higher than the consumption of beef in 1979 and thus become the most popular of all types of meat in 2004.
In conclusion, fish and meat consumption in that European country has changed clearly during the 25-year period between 1979 and 2004 where chicken’s consumption has risen while the consumption of other types like beef, lamb and less significantly fish has decreased showing that meat consumption can vary from one time to another.
