Overall, unemployment rates decreased in most countries over the one-year period. England showed almost no change in unemployment, while Northern Ireland experienced the most significant drop. Scotland is the only country to suffer a rise in unemployment during the year.
In 2013, 6.8% of women in England were jobless, and this figure fell slightly to 6.5% a year later. Similarly, Wales also experienced a drop of 0.4% in female unemployment from 2013 to 2014, bringing its figure down from 5.4 to 5.0%, respectively.
Northern Ireland, however, saw the most dramatic decrease in female unemployment, starting high at 5.6% and hitting a low-point of 4.6% by the end of the yearly period. On the other hand, 6.1% of Scottish women were jobless in 2013, and this figure rose to 6.7% in 2014.
