The line graph illustrates the percentage of first - year experience teachers who were recruited into Ontario inters of English and France.
Overall, it is clear that while the proportion of French-language teachers finding jobs increased, the figures for English-language teachers was a rapid decline.
In 2001, the percentage of teachers in both languages was the same, about 70% within English and 75% within French. After three years, there was a dramatic decrease of the rate of english-language teachers finding jobs by over 30%, at 40% while the figures for France fluctuated, fell to just over 50% in 2002, and went up approximately 70% in 2003.
In the next following four year, the proportion of teachers teaching French rose marginally, from just below 70% in 2003 to reached a peak at 75% in 2007. There was an opposite tendency with the percentage of English-language teachers. This figure saw a modest growth in 2005. After that a sharp decline was seen in this figure in 2007, hitting the lowest point at 25%. At this number, the figures for French were three times as much as that of English.
