The graph gives information about how many complains received to Environmental Health authorities by the residents of Newton city according to the reasons of noise from 1980 to 1996.
At a quick glance of the graph reveals that except the domestic and households related noise complains which was the major reason for irritation of people in 1980, the number of noise complains due to factories, traffic and road works increased noticeably over the given time period.
In 1980, the action of people in their houses reported as approximately over 600 which were significantly higher compared to the others. Then, the recorded noise complains about this reason decreased steeply until 1988 when it leveled off for two years after declining again dramatically to a lower number as 100. On the other hand, the number of complaints due to factories gradually increased over a six-year period starting from 400, after it remained stable for a decade by reaching to just above 600.
Meanwhile, the number of complaints to reach Environmental Health authorities about road works and traffic were stayed in the same as nearly as 500 and 300, respectively in 4-year period time. Then, they showed the same trend as decreasing slightly before leveling off between 1989 and 1988. In 1996, both of them had reached a triple amount which was calculated as 1200 and 600.
