The line graph illustrates the change in the population of visitors to a particular Caribbean island from 2010 to 2017.
Overall, the total number of tourists increased over the period of 7 years. Although there were more visitors staying on the island than those on cruise ships at the start of the period, the opposite was seen in the last year.
In 2010, a total of 1 million tourists visited the island. Among them, only around 0.75 million stayed on the island, and the rest (about 0.25 million) just stayed on cruise ships. Until late 2015, tourists who stayed on the island outnumbered those on cruise ships.
At the end of the period, the total population of tourists rose significantly to 3.5 million. In particular, there was a dramatic increase in visitors staying on cruise ships to 2 million, a 1.75 million growth, while those who stayed on the island saw a steady rise and the figure became 1.5 million.
