The line graph illustrates the proportion of the Britsh using the latest devices, namely CD player, cell phone, desktop PC and the Internet over the period of 7 years, starting from 1996.

Overall, the most striking feature of the graph is that the figure for all of the newest technology witnessed an upward trend over the period
shown.

Looking at the graph for more details, in 1996, the CD player was the most popular device in the United Kingdom, at 60%. This figure rose steadily and finished at over 80% in 2003. A similar trend was also seen in the proportion of home computers, increasing significantly from 30% in 1996 to approximately 55% in 2003.

On the other hand, although mobile phone had the lowest starting point of 20% in 1996, it dramatically rose and surpassed the desktop PC at the beginning of 1999 to become the second most popular device, with 70% in 2003. Likewise, with a rapid pace, the figure for the Internet nearly tripled from 15% in 1998 to roughly 45% in the final year.
