The graph below shows the production levels of main fuels in a European country from 1981 to 2000. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The line graph illustrates the amount of three different types of fuel produced in a European country from 1981 to 2000.

Overall, petroleum was by far the most produced and fluctuated type of fuel while the manufacture of natural gas and coal experienced two completely opposite trends.

In 1981, the amount of petroleum being produced was around 100 tons. It increased steadily in the next few years to reach 130 tons and remained unchanged for 4 years before dropping back to just under 100 tons in 1989. It then rose up again to 130 tons in 1995, where it fluctuated slightly until it stayed at just over 120 tons at the end of the period.

The other two categories had the production remained constant at 80 tons of coal and 40 tons of natural gas, respectively. Coal production dropped down to around 50 tons in 1985 and rose back up to just over 70 tons in 1987 before slowly declining over the next 13 years to just under 40 tons. The manufacture of natural gas remained stable at about 40 tons until around 1991 when it began to increase sharply touching over 80 tons in 2000.
