The line graph gives the estimated total percentage of people aged 65 or more over a hundred-year period, occupying 3 countries. Although initially, the USA had the lead with Japan having the least proportion of older people, by the year 2040, there is a swap in positions. Notwithstanding, all three countries exhibit considerable rise in quantity of living elderly people.
Between the years 1940 to 2000, the constant rise in population of the aged in the USA and Sweden is opposed to the fall and plateau noticed in Japan. The USA then encounters a plateau in the years 2000-2020, allowing Sweden take the lead with in 2010.
By the year 2030, there is a steep rise in numbers as the proportion of aged Japanese residents rise from 10% to a whooping 25%, surpassing numbers in both USA and Sweden respectively. This places Japan in first place with Sweden following close behind and USA at last place.
