The graph below shows relative price changes for fresh fruits and vegetables, sugars and sweets, and carbonated drinks between 1978 and 2009.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The line graph illustrates the information about changes in price of three product groups from 1978 to 2000, and the overall trend in the consumer –price index in the same period.
Overall, as can be seen, the prices increased all the items surveyed over this 30-year period, despite fluctuations. Another visible trend is that only fresh fruits and vegetables was higher in price than the general consumer-price index.
In 1979, all the lines on the chart have the similar starting figure, with around 70. The consumer- index rose steadily over the period, at about 210 in 2009. The prices for sugar and sweets and carbonated drinks showed same trends. Although their prices also grew, they were consistently below price index average after 1987. After many minor fluctuations, the number of sugar and sweets jumped to under 200 in the year 2009, higher than the figure for carbonated drinks, at over 150.
In terms of fresh fruits and vegetables, it was a sharp increase in 1990 to approximately 175, and reached the highest point in 2007, with roughly 335. However, the period from 2007 to 2009 witnessed a slight decrease to 330 in this index.
