Looking at the graph, the unemployment rate in the US reduced while the contrast was true for Japan over the whole period surveyed.
In 1993, there was a contrast pattern in the figure of people being out - of - work both in the US and Japan, with the former reaching a peak of 7.0 % and the later hit the lowest point of 2.5 %.
In the remaining years, the number of unemployed people was witnessed to drop erratically from 7.0 % to 5.0 % in 1996 before going up and down around 5.0 % till 1999. Meanwhile, the proportion in Japan, which rocketed by twofold in 1996 compared to 1993. Subsequently, the figure kept growing dramatically at 5.0 % in the last year.
