The line graph illustrates the quantity of hours spent weekly on watching television and using computers by children from 10-11 years old during the period from 2000 to the present.
It can be clearly seen that there are two basic general trends: upward and fluctuation. It is also noticeable to see that at the very first begining in 2000, the amount of time spent on television overweighed the one that spent on computers; however, an opposite trend has been witnessed since 2004.
Looking at the details, in 2000 only nearly 4 hours per week were spent on using computers. This number surged markedly in the period of 4 years later, outreached the time spent on television in 2004 and has started its overwhelming growth from 2004 till now. It reacged it first peak at nearly 22 hours, which was slightly higher in comparison with television's first peak in 2000.
In contrast, starting with a peak at nearly 21 hours, the volume of time spent on television went through a period of stability in 2004-2005, followed by a considerable drop by 6 hours. This number dipped and hit a trough at 14 hours in 2005-2006. Since 2007, this number has experienced the second period of stability at more than 14 hours.
