The graph shows oil production capacity for several Gulf countries between 1990 and 2010.
Presented is the graph exhibiting the amount of oil produced on a daily basis in six Gulf nations from 1990 to 2010.
As illustrated in the graph, the majority of nations witnessed an upward trend in oil production, with the exception of Qatar. Another interesting point is Saudi Arabia maintained the position as the major producer over the two-decade timescale.
Specifically, in the initial year, Saudi Arabia accounted for well over 8 million quarrels of oil, almost doubling other nations whose figures were averagely at 4 millions. The following years, this country strengthened its position in oil production by going through a surge to over 14 million quarrels, which were twofold its starting capacity, and maintained its dominant role in oil industry. Conversely, Qatar, despite experiencing a volatility in the period, this country produced the least amount of oil with a modest figure of under 2 millions.
Iran was the second-ranking oil producer in 1990 with approximately 3.5 millions per day, but after a slight increase, its capacity remained modest, which was merely one-third the figure of leading producer. The same upturn pattern was seen in the remaining countries, Iraq, Kuwait and UAE, which shared the capacity of nearly 4 million quarrels at the end of the period.
