The graphs below show the percentages of people using public transportation and private cars in different cities in Australia between 2000 and 2010

The two line graphs illustrate the percentage of Australian people who used public transportation or only their private vehicles in an eight-year period from 2002 to 2010.

Overall,there was an upward trend in both groups used different kinds of transport over the given period.

It is clear that the proportion of public transport used in Sydney was significantly higher than others in 2000, at around 20%, followed by a sharp rise to a peak at around 25% in the last period. Besides, the figure for that of Melbourne went down slightly by 2 % , but then went up to 20% in 2010.The percentage of public vehicles used in the remaining destinations namely
Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide witnessed a minimal fluctuation at around 10%, 12% and 14% respectively over the given period.

Turning to the latter line graph, the proportion of Australia people used their own transports in Sydney ranked first at nearly 80%, followed by the figure for that in Melbourne, at around 75%. The others gained lower positions in the proportion of people used their own cars but still saw a remarkable upturn by approximately 10% in an eight-year period.
