The graph illustrates the writing equipments which are used by freshmen to prepare for class work at a university in 1970, 1982 and 1994, measured in percentage.
It is clear that ball point pens lead by over one half in 1970, followed by fountain pens with almost four-tenth. In the same year, very few students used typewriters, around 10%. Furthermore, none of the asms had been done by computers back in 1970 at a university.
In the next twelve years, the percentage of ballpoint pens decreased but still the most used technology over 40%. Followed closely the percentage of typewriters rose sharply, placed at second rank with aprroximately over 40%. In this year, we saw the emergence of computer usage. Its percentage were marginally higher than that of fountain pens, both were less than 10%.
In 1994, computers rose significantly to 50% and lead the chart. Typewriters decrease slightly to 38%. In the last year of period, ball point pens fall dramatically to 8%. Fountain pens became the least popular among students, around 3%.
