A HISTORY OF TWO TOWNS
The maps collate how Meadowside village and Fonton, which is a neighboring town, have evolved over three different time periods (1962, 1985 and the present).
Overall, Meadowside village enlarges in size and has become Meadowside Suburb as it integrated together with Fonton. Furthermore, infrastructure, housing, and facilities have significantly altered over the period given.
In 1962, there was a completely dispensed with no roads or rail subjoining between Meadowside and Fonton. Interestingly, Fonton had a railway line running through it to the north whilst Meadowside only had a small road from the west which situated to the west of Fonton.
Subsequently, by 1985, there was a considerable enlargement in the size of Meadowside village and Fonton. As a result, the small road in Meadowside village had been transformed into the main road and was also extended to the east to associate with Fonton. Meadowside, moreover, had also inaugurated a housing estate in the west, a leisure complex and a supermarket in the south.
Currently, both Meadowside, which is now a suburb, and Fonton are amalgamated. Particularly, the railway line, which runs through Fonton, has been elongated to the west where a train station has been built. To the north of the station, a hotel has been constructed compared with to the south, there is now a business park.
