IELTS TASK 1
Line graph

The line graph illustrates the number of people using 3 different categories of means of transportation, namely car, bus, and train, over the course of 60 years starting in 1970.

A glance at the chart provided reveals that car is by far the most ubiquitous means of transport throughout the surveyed period. In addition, whilst the quantity of people using both car and train shows a gradual upward trend, a reverse pattern can be seen toward bus.

In the year of 1970, the number of car users was the top scorer, at roughly 5 million, which approximate 3 million lower than its counterpart – train passengers. Furthermore, in the period of 40 years between 1970 and 2010, the number of both car and train commuters witnessed a steady increase, and registered nearly 7 and 3 million respectively in 2010. Both car and train will gain popularity. By 2030, the number of car users is anticipated to reach around 9 million, making it still tops the list, and the quantity of train passengers is also projected to become the runner-up, at just under 5 million.

In 1970, the number of bus commuters was the second rank, at just above 5 million, in comparison to the others. In the entire surveyed period, the quantity of bus travelers experiences a moderate decline, and bus is forecasted to become the least popular type of transport, with only just under 3 million users in the year of 2030.
