The line graph illustrates the number of both gender who smoked cigarettes in Australia from 1960 to 2000. Overall, there were noticeable trend in both men and women as men group had a decreasing trend from beginning until end of graph, also women generation who smoked, generally increased with some fluctuations.
To begin with, men population who smoked cut down from 6 million to 3 million. Clearly, it was at the highest position in 1960 when the women population was just 1 million. The drop kept constant until 1980 as it got 4 million, then it remained steady till 1985. It worth pointing that women in this period had similar trend as they were constant as 3 million individuals. Afterward, what is remarkable is the decreasing trend from 1985 to 1995 that men population turned about 2.8 million then it became 3 million in 2000.
Moreover, the women population had it own fluctuations as it sharply increased from 1 million to 3.5 million until 1975. Additionally, it decreased about 0.5 million in 1980 and turned 3 million. As it was mentioned population of women who smoked stayed steady until 1985. Frankly what happened next was a decrease from 1985 to 2000 and this group's population tuned 2 million. Accordingly, the distance between this two groups had significantly cut down. However, men still had higher position in 2000 as they were about 1 million more.
