The line graph depicts how many people went to the cinema in four different age-group categories in America over eleven years, beginning in 2000.
In general, it can be seen that the typical number of cinemagoers experienced an upward trend; however, it was quite erratic. In addition, the 15–24 age group had the largest figure over the time given.
In 2000, the 15–24 age group had the biggest figure, at about 16%. Then it saw a consistent growth to 33% in 2004 before it had a drop to 31% in the following year. Between 2005 and 2020, this number had two-time increases, two-time decreases, and two-time stables. After that, it reached a peak of 68% in the middle of the year 2010 before falling to 52% in 2011. In the first five years of this survey, the 7–14 age group fluctuated between 10% and 16%, then it rose considerably to 30% in 2007 before decreasing to 24% in 2018 and rising again to 39%. In 2011, it came back to the 2007 figure.
Meanwhile, the 25–35 age group grew steadily from 4% in 2000 to 24% in 2005. In the remaining time given, it suffered an unstable period of 19% to 32%. Although people who belong to the 35 and over age group had a limited proportion at the beginning of the survey at about 2%, it had a constant rise in the whole period given and reached the figure of 13% in the last year.
