The given line graph depicts food consumption trends of five different food items (vegetables, fruit, meat, bread and seafood) in Australia over a time span of 60 years from the year 1950 to 2010. Units are measured in Kg per person per year.
Overall, it can be inferred clearly that vegetables were the most liked food item throughout the given time period as opposed to seafood which was the least preferred among Australian residents. Moreover, all four items except seafood experienced a rise and fall in their demands which relatively remained constant.
Food items such as Vegetables and fruit noticed similar trends from the year 2000 to 2010 in which they noticed a steady increase in consumption rates .
Vegetables rose from 140 to 160 kilograms per person and Fruits from 120 to 140.
Going forward, the same two categories noticed a steady decline from the year 1960 to 1970 which was contrasted by meat bread and seafood gaining their consumption rates in the same year. Bread's demand rose sharply which was then followed by meat . Seafood rose marginally from around 19 kilograms to 20 kilograms and noticed the least fluctuation when compared to other items.
