Overall, there was an upward trend in the rate of internet residents using the Internet. Notably, a much larger percentage of Canadians and Americans had access to the Internet in comparison with Mexicans, and Canada experienced the fastest growth in Internet usage.
In 1999, one-fifth of the American had access the internet, which was twofold that of Canada, at 10%. Meanwhile, the figure for Mexico was only a half of Canada. In 2005, internet penetration in both the USA and Canada rose significantly to around 70%, while the percentage of internet access in Mexico reached just over a quarter of the population.
In the next four years, the ratio of internet users in Canada surged to become was highest figure with almost 100% of Canadians accessing the internet. Meanwhile, the figures of the other two nations continued to increase with approximately four-fifths of Americans and two-fifths of Mexicans being able to access the Internet.
