The maps provide the information about the center of Islip town at present and a plan to develop this town in the future.
It is clear, in general, that the city center will undergo dramatical alternations with the principal one is the construction of a ring road around the center. The countryside, as well as a part of the park, will be destroyed to give way to the ring road.
Looking at the map of Islip now, we can see that some shops, a countryside, and housing currently surround the central area of the city. Besides, there is a main road which is designed for transports through its center from west to east of the town.
The layout of the planned development shows that traffic will be diverted on to a dual carriageway that will form a ring around the center and only pedestrians will be allowed to use the main road. Currently, there is a row of shops along the north side of the main road. However, it will be demolished to make way for a bus station, shopping center, car park, and new housing. The shops along the other side of the main road will remain unchanged, but the park will be narrowed so that more new houses can be built within the ring road. Strikingly, a school will be kept although many changes will be applied in order to make the development.
