The maps below show the village of Stokeford in 1930 and 2010. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The maps illustrate the changes took place in the village over 80-year period, starting from 1930.
It can be seen that the village was transformed in terms of both facilities and infrastructure. The significant change can be found as most of the land used for agricultural purposes vanished to make way for housing areas.
In 1930, there was only a few of houses located alongside the main road which ran through the middle of the village, while farmland covered most of the northeast and southeast of the area. By 2010, most of the farmland had been converted to residential areas, as shown by the erection of more houses on both sides of the main road. Additional roads were also built to provide easy access to people living this area.
In terms of the village facilities, the shops located the west of the road disappeared while the post office nearby remained unchanged. It is also noticed that the primary school was expanded and the large houses to the west of the school was transformed into a retirement home.
