People nowadays sleep less than they used to in the past.
What do you think is the reason behind this? What are the effects on individuals and people around them?
Sleep deprivation occurs when human bodies consistently lack quality nap time resulting from various factors regarding the overload of work as well as the distraction caused by technology. In fact, this phenomenon is becoming more prevalent currently and is bringing about severe consequences in terms of degrading individuals’ health and causing tragic accidents.
Generally speaking, there are several problems contributing to the shortage of sleep that most people are suffering from, namely the occupied lifestyle and other entertaining tools from technological advancement. Firstly, an immense number of white-collar workers are relatively working in a competitive and high-demanding environment, which requires them to give in huge efforts on duty and even work overtime to get the job done on time. This real state of affairs prevents employees from accomplishing a healthily balanced schedule, especially prohibiting them from getting sufficient sleep. Secondly, along with the rise in entertaining platforms widely accessible on the Internet, people are often captivated by these advanced technologies that can take away the day’s fatigue and therefore lose track of time.
Unfortunately, such lack of resting hours can bring about numerous inevitable consequences including the state of poor health and the prompts of traffic injuries. It is evident that our bodies go into recovery mode during the deepest phases of sleeping, which promotes better mental and physical performance for the next day. Thus, being deprived of sleep will result in productivity and efficiency deterioration, especially at work. Furthermore, the percentage of severe incidents caused by reckless driving is taking some big leaps since people are constantly exhausted and incapable of concentrating when commuting. Such an issue poses serious threats not only to drivers themselves himself but also to other passengers.
In conclusion, it is not advisable that many workers are obliged to work longer nowadays and that people are often more keen on online entertainment since they lose the opportunities to fully get rest at night. This arising problem might affect humans’ health both mentally and physically and can even cause severe accidents to any drivers
