The pie chart demonstrates the causes behind the destruction of agriculrural land around the globe whereas the table illustrates that how the land in the three places of the world are effected by these reasons in the 1990s.

Overall, it is evident that over-grazing was the major cause behind the less productivity of fertile soil throughout the world while other causes were least responsible for it. In Europe, comparatively the largest area of land was degarded whereas in North America the least proportion of land was effected.

As shown in the pie chart, over-grazing counted for the infertility of 35% of the total land while deforestation and over-cultivation together affected slightly above 50% of the land, 30% and 28% respectively. Only 7% of the land lost its fertility owing to the other minor causes.

The table imparts information that 23% of the total land in Europe was degraded due to these causes and deforestation destructed 9.8% of the land. In North America, only 5% of the total land became less productive, and the most common reason was over cultivation, around 3.3% while 0.2% land was damaged owing to deforestation. A striking feature was that in Oceana over-cultivation had absolutely no negative impact on the soil, and of the 13% infertile land over-grazing effected 11.3% of the land.
