The depicted pie charts illustrate the budget spent on several household categories over a 60-year period from 1950 to 2010.
In general, it is evident that the ratio of most of the categories witnessed an upward trend over the time frame, except housing, and education. In addition, the expenses paid for housing and food were the most in both years.
More specifically, in 1950 the cost allocated for housing accounted for the highest with slightly over 70%. However, the money spent on food overtook the figure for housing to become the highest, representing 34% in 2010.
On the other hand, the period between 1950 and 2010 underwent an acceleration of 4 times in the expenses paid for transportation and other categories over the given period of time, from 3% and 4% to 19% and 14%, respectively. The proportion of money spent on health
care and education remained stable, both below 10%.
