The pie charts show the main reasons for migration to and from the UK in 2007
The pie charts demonstrate the primar reasons for moving to and leaving the UK in 2007.
Overall, it is evident that the main reason for this decision is work and employment.
Firstly, occupying a definite job accounted for 30% of migration to the UK, similarly, this figure for emigration stood at 29%. Another influencing factor for leaving the UK is searching for a job, with the figure of 22%. However, the proportion of individuals immigrating was obviously lower, at less that one fifth.
In addition, formal study pushed over a quarter of the people to travel to the UK, whereas a small minority of 4% left for this. The percentages of those who immigrated and emigrtaed to live with a family member or a friend were relatively similar, at 15% and 13% respectively. While a considerable number of people (32%) gave other reasons or did not mention why they emigrated, the figure of immigration accounted for only about 17%.
