The pictures illustrate how Grange park has changed since 1920 when it first was in use.
In 1920, there were three rose garden located around two entrances of the park. It was impressive that there was a wonderful fountain in the centre of the park which was to the right of the stage for musicians. Whenever the visitors enter this amusement park from Eldon Street, they could encounter a glasshouse to the right of the entrance, which was opposite of the pond for water plants. Besides that, this was an ideal place for many people to come and take a rest on seats sited around rose gardens and glasshouse.
Nowadays, the fountain is demolished and replaced by a rose garden surrounded by seats in four directions. The rose garden right up to the entrance from Amold Avenue is replaced by a coffee shop which is now near to the children’s play area instead of the old glasshouse and it is next to the new third entrance following the underground car parking. The last change is a bit glorious when a modern amphitheatre for concerts established instead of the simple stage for musicians.
Overall, Grange peak has significant developments to meet the requirements of contemporary citizens despite lacking of some beautiful natural features.
