Quantities of goods transported in the UK between 1974 and 2002
The graph depicts the amount of products in million tones delivered in the UK during the period of 28 years starting from 1974 to 2002.
At the first glance, in terms of road, the number of goods delivered occupied the line chart while the pipeline one has always stood at the bottom of the list.
it is obvious that road and water proportion show a fluctuation in the time frame of 1978 to 1998. Especially to the road, it was plummeting, the indication of this was the gradually increase in 1982 at around 65 million tones and the sudden sharply decreasement begin from 1994 to 1998. By the way, it still took over the first place of the most common transportation at the end of the period. Navigation and rail illustrates the same downward and the considerably late surge trend, ending at nearly 62 and 41 million tones of products respectively in the year 2000.
In contrast to the 3 methods above, pipeline can be seen at the smallest group but with a slow and steady growth in these 28 years.
